Broken parties and “subjugated” thuringians? Seven lessons from the election in thuringia

Broken parties and 'subjugated' thuringians? Seven lessons from the election in thuringia

It was only a few days ago that thomas kemmerich (FDP) was elected prime minister of thuringia with the votes of the afd. Not only was he the second FDP minister president ever, he will also go down in history as the minister president with the shortest term in office – assuming he doesn’t stay in office as managing minister president for too much longer.

In thuringia, it quickly became clear that there was really only one way out. However, the minister-president election in thuringia’s state parliament triggered a political quake that caused a stir far beyond the state’s borders – and is still claiming political victims: on monday, annegret kramp-karrenbauer announced her renunciation of her candidacy for chancellor and her withdrawal from the party chairmanship.

Automotive industry faces difficult transition

Automotive industry faces difficult transition

Germany is still a car country – politicians and industry want to secure the future: a leading role in autonomous driving, more speed for a customer-friendly charging network for e-cars and better data exchange with other traffic carriers.

These are the core objectives of the "auto summit" with chancellor angela merkel (CDU) and representatives from politics and business on tuesday evening. The rough hook: the industry is in a deep crisis. Medium-sized suppliers in particular are hanging on to the burner. They are in danger of running out of money – and the strength to invest in the future – because of the sales slump in the corona pandemic. Jobs are at stake. An overview:

More life in ditches and ponds

More life in ditches and ponds

And gerd schaar the category of third-order water in the city and country extends from the small ditch to the stream. Some of these are in a deplorable condition. Crammed into narrow channels or with insurmountable ledges for small animals, their natural habitat leaves much to be desired. This also affects their retention function against floods. Agricultural manure in the riparian areas is also detrimental to the water quality.

This constellation not infrequently contradicts the bavarian water act. Hammelburg and wartmannsroth want to act now. They have commissioned a water development concept from the buro fur ingenieurbiologie und landschaftsplanung (BIL, witzenhausen).

“Disaster for the environment”: wurzburger klarwerk warns against toilet paper alternatives

The corona crisis has led to an unprecedented rush for toilet paper. From february to march 2020, for example, there was a 700 percent increase in sales. Rough quantities were hoarded, the shelves were regularly cleared of stock. But while toilet paper is plentiful, many households are turning to alternatives, creating problems for municipal utilities and clearing plants.

The city of wurzburg addressed this very issue in a press release. The report calls for the avoidance of additional problems caused by the increased use of cake, paper or moist towelettes by households.

Not all schnapps is the same

Not all schnapps is the same

When it comes to schnapps, herbert steinlein knows no mercy. "Whoever dumps it in won't get a second one", says the neufanger innkeeper and makes it clear that the guest who drinks the distillate in one go and does not enjoy it will be punished. Craft errors should also be avoided as far as possible. Poured cold, the brandy loses its aroma. "That is why schnapps should only be drunk at room temperature", steinlein emphasizes that schnapps should never be enjoyed with beer, but only with water, and possibly also with a cup of black coffee.

No more valid water permits for 40 years

The municipality of unterleinleiter has no longer had water permits for one discharge point for mixed water and eleven discharge points for rainwater into the sewer system, in some cases for 40 years. However, this permit is required in order to discharge wastewater or precipitation water from a sewer system into a receiving water body.

The fact that these permits have long since expired was only now discovered during the review of the dischargers into the ebermannstadt clarification plant. For the municipality of unterleinleiter, this now means that no valid decisions are available and documents for the application of a restricted water law permit must be prepared and submitted by the end of the year. And this in turn can be expensive for the municipality, because then possibly also tree removals must take place.

Strabenfasching in steinach: bees, bramen, brexit

Strabenfasching in steinach: bees, bramen, brexit

Norbert borst, third mayor of the market town of bad bocklet, and local spokesman uto-paul schmitt run through all the floats, fub groups and bands before the carnival procession. It takes them three quarters of an hour to explain security to the participants. They point out, for example, not to serve alcohol to young people under 16 and explain how to secure the cars so that nothing happens. "Four people should accompany a car, two in the front and two in the back", says borst. The attendants must take care that the spectators at the side of the road do not get too close to the vehicles and get hurt.

It’s no coincidence that representatives from the town hall and local council are concerned about safety instruction. In steinach, it is not the clubs that organize the parade, but the municipality that is still responsible. "We have said we want to support this and maintain it as a community responsibility", says borst. After all, the parade, with 41 cars, fub and music groups, is one of the coarser ones in the county and accordingly attracts many visitors from outside the county.
